In addition to selling a limited number of items on-air, Martha Stewart’s appearance on HSN serves as a teaser to promote a much broader array of products, which are available in numerous, competing outlets, including Jo-Ann Stores (JAS), Walmart (WMT) and Michaels, as well as on a Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (MSLO) dedicated website.  The DRTV network appearance, in effect, serves as a substitute for a national advertising campaign, which would be cost-prohibitive given the dispersion of Martha’s craft line across retail stores and formats.  BNET (CBS News) Jul. 19, 2010

Joining Stewart during her appearances will be Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia’s crafting expert Alex Perruzzi.  Together, they will demonstrate Provo Craft’s Cricut cake decorating and cutting machine, along with key items from the Martha Stewart Crafts line.  These will include the Martha Stewart Crafts Punch and Stamp Kit, Large Circle Cutter, a 24-pk Iridescent Glitter Kit, the Scoreboard Kit, Essential Tool Kit, Essential Glitter Kit, and the Essential Punch Kit.  HSN Press Release Jul. 14, 2010

Mindy Grossman has reportedly bagged another big-game celebrity pitchwoman to add to her trophy room in Tampa, Fla.  This time, it’s Martha Stewart, who will apparently appear on the network selling Martha Stewart Crafts™, July 19th.  The collection will include crafting tools, embellishments, project kits, glitter, and more.  Stewart will presumably sell alongside her company’s crafting expert, Alex Perruzzi.

The Homeshoppingista reported the news yesterday, after HSN’s Colleen Lopez wrote excitedly on Facebook about the chance to meet the domestic diva.  For the moment, we have to credit Grossman with an unconfirmed “get” since HSN’s announcement does not promise an appearance by Stewart, only the debut of the line.  We’ll have to wait and see.  Homeshoppingista also questions the timing of the appearance — mid-July — since the products appearing in advance on the HSN website all have a patriotic, Independence Day look to them.  HSN Announcement
