Provo Craft Announces World Launch of Cricut Mini™ on HSN
Provo Craft yesterday announced the worldwide launch of its latest cutting machine, The Cricut Mini™ (pictured at left), which will be presented on HSN and hsn.com throughout the day today, with a final TV presentation during the 10 p.m. EST hour.  The device enables crafters to cut paper, vinyl, fabric and other materials in designs that can be accessed online at the Cricut(R) artwork library.  In the release, Denise Bruhns, vice president of consumer insights for Provo Craft, said, "We're partnering with HSN to bring Cricut(R) to a wide range of people who want to express their creativity, and we're helping them do that in ways they may never have thought possible."
 

Looking to rebound from its unsuccessful foray into tablet computing with its 5-inch Streak, Dell Inc. is selling a 3G/4G-capable model of the 16GB Streak with two months of free service on T-Mobile on QVC at a price point of $319.  “The QVC deal, which is being made available online ahead of TV, beats Dell’s own price and is competitive with others found on the Web.  The offer includes free, standard shipping and the QVC’s “easy pay” plan of five monthly payments of $63.80 each plus tax.  The prices above reflect the product page on QVC’s website; the source article in TabTimes linked below mentions a price of $299.  In any event, as of this morning the product is not available through QVC.

In a press release today, Connecticut-based Zero Odor celebrated their successful partnership with number-one TV shopping network QVC, which has resulted in the sale of 50,000 units of Zero Odor’s four-bottle odor eliminator kit over the past year.  The product eliminates pet, smoke, kitchen and garbage odors from homes and automobiles without the use of heavy perfumes to temporarily mask them.

Zero Odor founder Jim Huffstetler also had the good sense to use the release as an opportunity to lavish a little praise on the professionals at QVC, saying (and this is just part of his encomium), “I am so impressed with QVC’s tireless efforts to delight their customers. In voluntary cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, W. P. Appliances, Inc. is recalling its Wolfgang Puck Reversible Tri-Grill/Griddle (model number BRTGG0100), which it imported from China-based manufacturer YouO Electric Appliances Co. Ltd.  HSN was the exclusive retailer for the product, and sold some 27,000 units between April 30 and May 6 of this year at an approximate price point of $100.

W. P. Appliances, Inc., has received four reports of electrical shock and two reports of melted plastic housing, due to a defect in the appliance’s electrical wiring that can pose a risk of overheating.  The importer has established a toll-free number (1-855-666-0478) to assist customers, and will reimburse them for the full purchase price of the product (including sales tax and shipping and handling).  Kansas City infoZine  Nov. 11, 2011

 

Mumbai, India-based Renaissance Jewellery Ltd. reported that group net sales more than doubled to $54.2 million (INR 2.67 billion) during its second fiscal-quarter that ended on September 30th.  “Growth was driven by strong jewelry and diamond sales as group net profits increased by 44 percent year on year to $2.1 million (INR 104.03 million) during the quarter.  Total expenditures rose to $51.1 million (INR 2.52 billion) from $21.96 million (INR1.08 billion) last year.”  Diamonds.net by Rapaport  Nov. 10, 2011

Never mind the marital difficulties of the most famous Kardashian daughter, mom Kris Jenner keeps the marketing juggernaut humming right along.  From the QVC compound in eastern Pennsylvania, she posted to her Celebuzz blog about her appearance on the network tonight between 7 and 10 p.m. ET.  Jenner will push apparel and a new memoir, Kris Jenner and All Things KardashianShe promised that a top very similar to the one she wears on her book cover will be among the items on offer this evening.

 

Touchstone Home Products, which manufactures “lift” cabinets for flatscreen televisions, today announced a two-part agreement ShopNBC. Touchstone’s products will be available for sale through the retailer’s usual electronic channels and will also help spruce up its Eden Prairie, Minnesota, sets.  Apparently Touchstone has already scored some good publicity on TV.  Company Vice President Frank Quinlisk, said “Some of the best exposure Touchstone’s received has been on various home improvement and home fix-up shows, where our cabinets have been displayed.
