The “Shoup Sisters” — that’s Cindy Shoup Cacy and Amy Shoup Mennen — will pitch their noted hog-burgers alongside host David Venable this Memorial Day on QVC. This will be the fourth time the sisters have been called up from the farm, by which we mean their day jobs at Shoup’s Country Foods in Frankfurth, Indiana, and made it to “The Show” on QVC. The retailer has reportedly ordered up 42,000 hog-burgers, which will be sold in 24-pork-patty packs for approximately $38 (or $1.58 per burger). As jewelry retailers prepare to attend the Las Vegas Jewelry Market Week, June 3-7, they are scrutinizing inventories to determine which categories need beefing up. And there is no better category when it comes to retailer margins than sterling silver. Sure, recent news has noted the improvement in the very high end of the market, but a National Jeweler Profit Margin Survey, due out in their June issue, found that “sterling silver jewelry topped more than 30 categories, including diamond jewelry and colored stone jewelry, as the leading margin-maker for retail jewelers.” National Jeweler May 26, 2010
